Between broken hearts and protecting people, we keep remaining NURSES.
A day like no other: When a Nurse is JUST A NURSE!
Don’t encourage your kids to become nurses. Because nursing comes to you by soul, by ethics! Not by skills, by money, by power, and internal politics. It can be learned—good, bad, easy, or fast. And it does NOT matter!
What matters is WHY YOU ARE IN.
By knowing that, you know how and to whom to address any event.
And today was one of those days where the ethical books of nursing must mention it.
Everyone knows how much I hate Socialism. For various reasons. One of them is because I was born and grew up in a socialist country and knew well how much utopia and idealism is in it and how much very poor people are manipulated and indoctrinated with socialist principles, losing their freedom.
But today was more than that! I saw the disaster that socialism can do to good people.
And when I say disaster, I mean their health conditions, weakness, and vulnerability that a socialist society puts its people in.
And I am an old nurse. I assess the situation at first sight, and I know the outcomes BEFORE even the events start. Call it ASSESSMENT PREDICTION.
You can teach a nurse high nursing skills, but if she is not INTELLIGENT and ETHICAL, she will never know how to react and make decisions in a split second.
For this, I loved the TRAUMA field because it was that second that could change the lives of everyone.
And the only one you need there is A NURSE, who came into the field by vocation, not for money, not for power, not to rule the world and others.
BY SOUL! Because just the SOUL can see what others cannot see.
A JACKET!

And the whole story today started with A JACKET!
Breathe in, breathe out, breathe in again, breathe out…assess the circumstances, the location, the position, and BE SURE that you have all your nursing skills with you. Categorize people, categorize possible options and paths, be sure that you have SIX eyes instead of two and six ears too…and keep in your mind…ALL OF THESE PEOPLE MUST STAY SAFE!
And you do not have time to think about yourself, that you are tired, that it is your day off, that you weren’t supposed to deal with this today, but everything that you know is I AM THE NURSE, I can deal with IT! And breathe again!
You laugh, you cry inside, you scratch with your fingers into the palm of your hand to not yell as anxious as you are, and outside you look relaxed and happy and social.
Because you know, ALL DEPENDS ON YOU!
It’s a health matter! It’s a broken intelligence matter! And the only one who could do a GOOD assessment and act on this situation is you, THE NURSE. And everyone waits for it!
TO DEAL WITH IT! And you are tired, you hate to be here in this position with these people in this location, but who cares?
Nurses are here to protect and save people. To assess, decide, and take action. And if it’s not working, reassess, decide, and do a different action until it is working.
Breathe in, breathe out and I can see your mom, she loves her child too much!
Breathe in, breathe out, ALL MOMS love their kids!
Breathe in, breathe out, and nurses care for all.
Have a good night nurses!
